There’s no doubt about it, positivity is always a plus in anybody’s life. We could all use a boost of positivity and confidence in ourselves and in our abilities. The problem is that negativity has a way of leaking into our consciousness and deflating and devaluing any positive progress we have made. Because of this, it is imperative that we begin to change the way we look at ourselves and the way we look at the world.
One of the main things that usually needs to be changed is what I like to call the “Myth of Perfection”. A lot of people spend a whole lot of time and energy chasing perfection. They want to get as close to perfect as possible. The problem is that perfection is an ideal -not an actual ‘thing’ – and, therefore, is unattainable. This means that a lot of people are chasing something that really doesn’t exist. It’s a concept, a myth.
There are two problems with chasing a myth. First, human beings are, well, human. We are prone to make mistakes. In fact, it is inevitable that if humans are involved, mistakes will be made. If you’re chasing perfection and you make the inevitable mistake, instead of using it as an opportunity to learn, the Perfectionists might use it as an opportunity to beat themselves up about it. They see that mistake as evidence that they are weak and worthless, or not trying hard enough. This leads us to the second problem.
When you believe that a common mistake is evidence that you’re weak, worthless and not trying hard enough it’s actually evidence of how you really feel about yourself. You feel that you’re weak. You believe that you’re worthless. Eventually, you are convinced that nothing you do will succeed. This can cause you to lose confidence in yourself and your abilities. It’s hard to believe that something that doesn’t exist can actually have the power to make you fail at life.
There is a simple way around these problems; it’s about starting to accept and embrace your imperfections and see them for what they really are – mere evidence that you’re human and that, like all humans, you make mistakes. You learn from those mistakes and you move on to better things. You accept that good enough is good enough. And that YOU are already good enough. This report will show you some easy techniques that you can use to avoid the negativity of perfectionism and begin embracing your imperfections in a positive way.
